Treatment Approaches

Manual Therapy

Osteopaths look at the whole body, not just the part that hurts. All parts of the body are interconnected, so an imbalance in one area can affect another.

We also consider how lifestyle factors such as your job, commute, hobbies, how you sleep, diet and stress levels affect your pain. We put all this information together to build a picture of you as a whole person, not just a ‘symptom’.

By treating you as a whole person, we can work towards addressing the root cause of your pain. We are here to guide you and empower you with the knowledge of how to prevent your pain from reoccurring or manage a chronic problem better.

Our treatment techniques:

  • massage (soft tissue techniques)
  • stretch and mobilisation of the joints
  • joint manipulation
  • muscle energy techniques
  • strengthening exercises

Medical Acupuncture:

In addition to manual techniques, our Osteopath also uses medical acupuncture.  This is an excellent way to help reduce muscle spasm and stimulate your body’s natural painkillers, to ease your pain.

The needles used are very fine, and used on specific points of the body. They will be left in place for a short period of time and often only a few needles are needed to get a good response.

Conditions they can it be used for:

  • pain and muscle spasm
  • relief of tension headaches
  • relief of the symptoms of overactive bladder syndrome
  • short-term relief of tension type headaches
  • relief of migraine headache
  • relief of chronic low back pain
  • relief of neck pain or chronic neck pain
  • relief from temporomandibular (TMD/TMJ) pain
  • temporary relief for osteoarthritis knee pain, when used in addition to mainstream treatments
